Mission Statement
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service. Year 2015 Goals
- To achieve a 50% reduction in age-adjusted mortality by the year 2015
- To achieve a 25% reduction in cancer incidence by the year 2015
- By 2015, there will be measurable improvement in the quality of life (physical, psychological, social, and spiritual) from the time of diagnosis and for the balance of life of all cancer survivors
